Anti Bully
From the 8th to the 12th of September 2025, The Sycamore Tree Academy dedicated a full week to Anti-Bullying Week, reaffirming the school’s commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and caring environment for all learners.
Throughout the week, a variety of activities, discussions, and workshops were held across all grades. Teachers guided learners through role-plays, storytelling, and classroom debates to highlight the impact of bullying and the importance of kindness, respect, and empathy. Learners also took part in poster-making and slogan-writing activities, which decorated the school corridors with powerful messages such as “Stand Up, Speak Out” and “Choose Kindness Every Day.”
A highlight of the week was the “Unity Day”, where learners and staff wore blue to symbolize peace and solidarity against bullying. Assemblies and group sessions encouraged learners to share their experiences and ideas on how to make the Academy a place where everyone feels valued and included.
How Anti-Bullying Week Helps Learners
The week was not only about raising awareness but also about offering real support to children who may have been affected by bullying:
• Safe Spaces to Share – Learners were encouraged to speak openly, knowing their voices would be heard and taken seriously. This gave children who may have experienced bullying a chance to feel supported.
• Empowerment – By learning strategies to deal with bullying, such as how to seek help, stand up assertively, and support peers, learners felt more confident and resilient.
• Building Empathy – Discussions and activities helped all learners understand the feelings of others, fostering compassion and reducing the likelihood of bullying behaviour.
• Strengthening Community – The week reminded learners that they are not alone. The support of friends, teachers, and the wider school family plays a vital role in helping victims heal and preventing future bullying.
Conclusion
Anti-Bullying Week 2025 was a meaningful and impactful initiative at The Sycamore Tree Academy. It not only raised awareness of the seriousness of bullying but also equipped learners with the tools to stand against it. Most importantly, it provided encouragement and healing to children who may have faced bullying, assuring them that they are protected, valued, and never alone.
