Grade R to Grade 2 Excursion to horse riding school
The learners from Grade R to Grade 2 recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to Ranch Riding School. The day was filled with discovery, learning, and adventure as children experienced the world of horses and farm life in a safe and nurturing environment.
The learners were introduced to the basics of horse riding, including how to mount, balance, and handle a horse with care. They also learned about the importance of respecting animals, grooming, and the daily responsibilities of looking after horses. Beyond riding, the children explored the ranch, observing the natural surroundings and developing an appreciation for the outdoors.
The joy and confidence on the children’s faces highlighted the success of the outing. Many overcame initial nerves, showing courage and resilience as they tried something new. Teachers noted how well the learners supported and encouraged one another, building teamwork and empathy throughout the day.

- Confidence Building – Trying new activities helps children develop self-belief, independence, and courage.
- Social Development – Excursions strengthen friendships and teamwork, as children share experiences and learn to support one another.
- Respect and Responsibility – Interacting with animals and nature teaches children empathy, care, and responsibility.
- Physical and Emotional Growth – Activities like horse riding encourage coordination, balance, and resilience, while also providing joy and stress relief.
Excursions are therefore an essential part of education, giving learners a broader view of the world and equipping them with valuable life skills.
