What Market Day Teaches Learners
Market Day is more than just a fun school event – it is a powerful educational experience. Through planning, preparing, and running their stalls, learners are given the opportunity to practice real-life skills that go beyond the classroom:
• Entrepreneurship & Creativity – Learners design and market their products, learning how to turn ideas into action.
• Financial Literacy – Handling money, calculating costs, setting prices, and working with change teaches them the basics of budgeting and profit.
• Teamwork & Collaboration – Each stall is a group effort, requiring cooperation, communication, and problem-solving.
• Responsibility & Accountability – Learners take ownership of their roles, from preparation to clean-up, building a sense of pride in their work.
• Confidence & Communication – Interacting with customers, persuading buyers, and presenting their products develops confidence and social skills.
Market Day also helps learners understand the value of hard work and the joy of sharing their talents with others. It nurtures a spirit of innovation and resilience while showing them that learning is not confined to books and classrooms but can be applied in real-world situations.
